The South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation Prime Time Gala was an overwhelming success! It was wonderful to bring a huge group of cattle producers together again. Over 1,625 guests enjoyed a wonderful ribeye steak provided by DemKota Ranch Beef at this year’s event.  Included in attendance were our Governor, Kristi Noem as well as, Congressman Dusty Johnson. The energy and enthusiasm in the room were overwhelming.  I feel everyone was proud to be in the cattle business and very, very proud to call South Dakota home! Feeding South Dakota was presented with a check for $253,827.  This brings an accumulative total to $1,768,296.  What an amazing figure that goes towards buying BEEF for those less fortunate across our state. The Foundation is dedicated to our youth, graciously giving $15,000 to five very deserving South Dakota college students.  Those recipients are Brianna Duerre, Bristol, SD; Collin Powell, Chamberlain, SD; Ryder Mortenson, Winner, SD; Matthew Bogue, Beresford, SD and Danika Gordon, Whitewood, SD. The top three Fed Beef Challenge winners were, Morgan Mackaben, Matea Gordon and Reese Voorhees.  This program works to develop a better understanding of operating a feed yard. Through a cooperative effort with Winner Circle Feedyard, youth 14-18 years of age gain real-life experience of owning, feeding, and marketing fed cattle. The winner of the Billion Auto Chevrolet Pickup was Brandon Marlow, Sioux Falls, SD. The recipient of the Branding Iron Award was Feeding South Dakota CEO, Matt Gassen.  This award is given in honor of one of our founding members Jean Wilkinson.  Since the beginning of the Foundation, her impact was tremendous and we will forever be grateful to have such a wonderful person involved. The exciting night continued with a great concert featuring Little Big Town along with the opening act, Tyler Farr. I am fortunate to be able to serve on this Foundation with a number of very, very committed board members.  We humbly accept the generosity of each and everyone involved whether you purchased a ticket to win the pickup or paid a premium for a custom print, bronze or an  EBY trailer…..thank you!
