Congrats to the Jacks!

I will be the first to admit that I am not a big fan of Spring football!  But, it was very exciting watching the Jacks make their way to the FCS championship game in Frisco, TX.  I am quite certain that this year’s title match is the only one in history that had a ninety-minute delay due to lightning, heavy rain, and a tornado warning! The team played amazing despite the wild weather and losing our star quarterback to an injury during the first series of the game.  Although it was SDSU’s first appearance in the title game, the Jacks played a heck of a game against Sam Houston State University.  Sophomore quarterback Keaton Heide, stepped up and played a good game after our Freshman star quarterback, Mark Gronowski became injured.  Isaiah Davis, another Freshman, scored a pair of exciting rushing touchdowns, keeping the Jacks in the game. Despite our team’s efforts,  with just 16 seconds left, SHSU scored a touchdown winning the National Championship title by a score of 23-21. All of us who support the SDSU program are hoping the success continues.  The team is young, still growing,  and over 20 local South Dakotans are on the roster. Here is hoping our team makes it to Frisco again in January! GO JACKS! Also, remember, May is BEEF month!  Let’s support our local producers and our local butcher shops. Enjoy delicious South Dakota BEEF on the grill!
